Delivering a strong pipeline of housing is fundamental to Queensland’s growth, but homes alone do not create thriving communities. Creating places where people genuinely belong requires forward-thinking planning that integrates health, wellness, and social infrastructure directly into the fabric of our neighbourhoods.
In this edition of establish, we explore our issue’s theme, Health and Social Infrastructure, through the lens of an evolving property industry committed to building connected, resilient communities. Drawing on recent qualitative research commissioned by the Institute’s Industry Leaders Research Group, we look beyond traditional civic facilities to examine how modern communities define and value local amenity. From walkable precincts, green open spaces, and local healthcare services to activated public realms and flexible gathering spaces, we highlight how innovative placemaking, flexible planning frameworks, and cross-sector collaboration are ensuring every new development delivers lasting social value for Queenslanders.
