Unitywater’s A&C framework

Update: Unitywater’s A&C framework

The Institute has received consistent feedback from members regarding the practical operation of Unitywater’s Accreditation and Certification (A&C framework).

Following this feedback, the Institute, through the Working Group established under the Memorandum of Understanding with Unitywater, has been working with the utility to better understand the underlying issues and identify practical improvements. This collaboration is focused on refining the process, supporting better-quality submissions, and ensuring the A&C framework continues to deliver value for all parties.

We encourage you to share any challenges or recurring issues you are experiencing and provide practical suggestions on how the A&C process could be improved.

The Institute is aware that a proportion of certification packages submitted to Unitywater by Registered Certifiers are being lodged incomplete and/or not fully aligned with approval requirements and design standards, estimated by Unitywater at over 40 percent.

Both the Institute and Unitywater recognise that this presents an opportunity to work together to strengthen the (A&C) process, provide training and awareness for Registered Certifiers and Unitywater staff as required, and improve submission quality to ultimately support more efficient timeframes and cost outcomes. Members are also encouraged to work with Registered Certifiers to ensure certification packages are complete and aligned with relevant approval requirements and design standards prior to submission.

Your feedback is critical in shaping a more efficient and effective system. Please contact the Institute with your feedback to improve the A&C system and processes.
