Championing Queensland’s industrial future

9 May 2025

In response to strong member demand, the UDIA Queensland Board formed the Industrial Council in 2024 — a dedicated industry-led voice advocating for Queensland’s industrial sector.

The Council represents the interests of industrial developers, builders, and consultants, tackling key issues and driving positive outcomes with government, utility providers, and key stakeholders.

Backed by a dedicated Policy Advisor, we’re focused on action and outcomes for industrial development. In just our first year, we’ve delivered:

  • State Government advocacy – elevated industrial land priorities in the lead-up to the 2024 State Election
  • Powerful partnerships – leveraged our strong ties with SARA, TMR, Urban Utilities, Unitywater and Energy Queensland to keep industrial needs front and centre
  • On-the-ground wins – worked with TMR to address roadwork approval delays, prompting investigations and better monitoring
  • Planning advocacy – shaped submissions on key planning matters affecting industrial development eg. ShapingSEQ and Gold Coast City Plan amendments, pushed for lower industrial development fees and 24/7 operations
  • Representation – brought industrial insight to Brisbane City Council and weighed in on national issues like EPBC assessments.

Stay tuned for the official Industrial Council launch and our upcoming Action Plan tackling the sector’s biggest challenges.
