Mackay Regional Council recently announced a 50 percent reduction in development application fees until September 2020 among other COVID-19 initiatives.

The Institute congratulates the council on this initiative that is a leading example for councils around Queensland.

Branch President Mark McGrath said the reduction was much needed assistance at a time when industry is trying to keep the doors open and locals employed.

“It is essential that we keep working with council so our members can deliver projects that provide much needed jobs for local families,” Mr McGrath said.

Fee reductions are one of the measures recommended in the Institute’s Project Bounce Back: Industry Action Plan to encourage an ongoing pipeline of employment generating work.
