Have your say: Reef sustainability plan
The consultation period on the draft updated Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan closes September 30.
You are encouraged to provide feedback on the first five-yearly comprehensive review of the Plan for the Great Barrier Reef.
Key issues include:
- Climate change
- Communities empowerment
- Traditional Owner aspirations
- Land based run-off
- Coastal development, and
- Direct human use of the Reef.
The Office of the Great Barrier Reef (part of the Department of Environment & Science) has led the development of an Urban Water Stewardship Framework to benchmark urban water management for reef protection and improvement.
The development and construction industry are key stakeholders in urban water management and, therefore, in the application of the Urban Water Stewardship Framework. The framework seeks to benchmark various aspects of urban water management, with rating done in a workshop process.
