CAIRNS: Planning Scheme changes proposed
The Cairns branch wrote to Cairns Regional Council on the proposed CairnsPlan 2016 Major Amendment and Planning Scheme Policy Amendments (the amendment).
The branch has raised concerns with proposed retaining wall changes, variations by the planning scheme of Queensland Development Code matters, and driveway separation provisions. The branch also identified changes that could make the approval of new houses more streamlined and sought flexibility on site cover and setbacks to allow for smaller homes in appropriate locations.
The amendment proposes a range of changes to the planning scheme including a revised house code, secondary dwelling code, new flooding and bushfire hazard provisions. As well as stormwater, excavation and filling changes and development works revision. Further information on the amendment is available here.
