Branch President meets with Federal Shadow Treasurer
Shadow Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Senator for Queensland Anthony Chisholm met with the Institute’s Fraser Coast Branch President Megan Kraft at a small business roundtable hosted by council.
The aim of the event was for both Shadow Treasurer and Senator to understand how the region was coping and responding to COVID-19. General optimism was the theme expressed by many of the industry groups.
The Institute’s representative, Fraser Coast Branch President Megan Kraft welcomed the discussion held within the small business meeting outlining a number of items on a State level.
“Home builder remains as one of our main items from a local branch perspective. We thank the Senator and the Shadow Treasurer for taking the time to understand our priorities and challenges within the region.
The Institute still holds concerns over the eligibility of some developments and the timing surrounding the payment and finance approval.
Other matters discussed included the current limitation placed over the region in terms of access to NBN and opportunities from it and the region’s position around renewables.
Also in attendance was the Fraser Coast Regional Council Mayor, Deputy Mayor, CEO, and Director for Development and Community.
