Unitywater goes for faster asset handover
With the time-limited HomeBuilder grant fuelling strong residential development activity, timely network connection approvals has never been more critical.
In good news for the industry, Unitywater has announced it will streamline the way it manages connection applications, giving developers greater control over the time and cost of connecting to the water and sewerage networks.
Since the introduction of the Unitywater Accreditation and Certification (A&C) System in 2017, Unitywater advise the average connections approval time has fallen from up to 50 to 10 business days.
This change to the way applications are handled has enabled developers to access a selection of assessment managers (Accredited Entities/Registered Certifiers), via Unitywater’s Accreditation Register.
Unitywater now requires customers to transfer to the system over the next 11 months, so prepare. From 1 July 2021 all applications that involve non-trunk infrastructure for provision of services to future customers will be assessed this way.
For a full rundown on how the A&C System operates and the phase out of the existing process, including a Q&A session, Unitywater will be holding an online forum on Wednesday, 12 August 2020.
To register, please email your name, email address and mobile phone number to accreditation.coordinator@unitywater.com by close of business on Friday, 31 July 2020.
Further details about the A&C System can be found on the Unitywater website or by contacting Praveen Chand, Accreditation and Certification Coordinator, at praveen.chand@unitywater.com or on (07) 5431 8541.
