Submissions lodged
The Institute responded to a sleigh-load of policy announcements in the busy lead up to Christmas. State Government departments wrapped up milestones with numerous releases of drafts for consultation and regulation changes.
Topics covered included:
- Draft Retirement Villages (Closure, Transition and Redevelopment Plans and Other Matters) Amendment Regulation 2019
- Exemption for the Sale of Liquor in Residential Parks
- Body Corporate and Community Management (Standard, Accommodation, Commercial, Small schemes, and Specified two-lot schemes Modules) Regulation 2019
- Mandatory ROL code provisions
- Dispute resolution for residential embedded network customers and Review of Queensland’s energy legislation
Input was also provided on:
- Standard requirements for financial reports and budgets for retirement villages
- Wide Bay regional plan
These changes were also examined:
- Implementation of The Spit Master Plan Bill 2019 (including the proposed repair to Planning Act compensations provisions)
- Rental reforms – A better renting future
- Electoral and Other Legislation (Accountability, Integrity and Other Matters) Amendment Bill 2019 and Inquiry into the feasibility of introducing expenditure caps for Queensland local government elections
Additionally, changes were released on matters the Institute had previously made a submission on including:
- State Bushfire Guidance Material
- Project Bank Accounts – phasing in PBAs for all private Queensland building projects valued at over $1 million within 24 months from July.
