1,400 new residents called Ipswich home in 2020’s first quarter

Spring Mountain continues to perform as the fastest growing suburb in the local government area with 95 new dwellings and 279 people moving into the area between January 2020 – March 2020.
Redbank Plains, South Ripley, and Ripley followed with 68 dwellings and 156 people, 53 dwellings 163 people, and 43 dwellings and 118 people respectively.
It brings the city’s total population to 226,857 people with 83,428 dwellings across the region.
The statistics were released in Ipswich City Council’s Planning and Regulatory Services’ Quarterly Report Card for the first quarter of the year. A total of 367 new lots were created, with 603 new lots approved in the same period.
Mayor Teresa Harding said the population growth statistics demonstrated that Ipswich is a destination of choice for residents because of its lifestyle offerings and affordability.
