This year's conference will be held on 26-27 August at the Sheraton Noosa and is themed 'Getting the Edge'
'Getting the Edge' means up-skilling and knowledge acquisition", said State President, Warren Harris.

"It is quite clear that our industry has turned the corner, that confidence is returning to the economy and that our operating environment shows a glimmer of improvement.

"It is now critical that we are on the front foot, skilled up and ready to go, to make the most of new opportunities," Mr Harris said.

"This year's conference is a must for any developer, consultant or small investor to take advantage of high profile speakers at the cutting edge of their fields to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge ‘must haves' as we head into more encouraging and confident times.

"Clive Palmer, Queensland mining magnate, will set the theme of the plenary sessions with his keynote address giving an insight into the philosophies and strategies that have made him one of the state's most successful businessmen.

"Each session will provide hands-on, strategic and tactical advice that can be applied in the workplace to create competitive advantage," Mr Harris said.

"Our speakers are acknowledged leaders in their field and will give delegates the edge in finance, overcoming challenges in projects, the latest in marketing strategies and the leading trends in innovation."

Danica Hooper will be speaking on organisational psychology, and new trends in recruitment while on a lighter note Steven Van Aperan will give delegates some practical tips in detecting deception through body language.

"But it's not all hard work. This year's social program offers something for everyone.

"It starts with the BMD Rally Challenge leaving Brisbane after a sausage sizzle briefing at midday, taking in major scenic landmarks, each with a fun activity, en route to Noosa.

"Or you can enjoy an afternoon of golf at the Noosa Country Club.

"The formal program includes welcome cocktails, Breakfast with the Exhibitors, Telstra pre dinner drinks and the Cardno Conference Dinner.

"A full partners program is offered with a cooking class and lunch at the renowned Spirit House Restaurant, a visit to the gallery of jeweller Anne Everingham and a local winery."
